The article that started it all (Atlantic link)
The Letter to the Editor that freaked us out.
A discussion of that letter in the Boston Globe.

Why haven't I seen this on the news?
The media is either freaked out by this - too weird, too dangerous
(remember what happened to Dan Rather) - or, frankly, they just don't buy it.
They say he was always this way (he wasn't ten years ago, though there are plenty of examples more recently), or "he's just tired." (we don't believe it).

Where is the tape from?
KERA-TV in Dallas

Doesn't it look like he's reading it?
It sure does. But he isn't. It's a debate - obviously, he was well rehearsed,
but he's not reading it.
Incidentally, the whole tape is just like the two examples we showed.
He's tight, bright, buttoned up, and he speaks very well -
with none of the goofy errors and stumbles we're used to.

What can we do?
First, consider who you vote for.
If you're fine with Dick Cheney running things and the
current administration's policies, hey, try not to worry too much.
Quite frankly, the Republicans have a lot of experience managing
things with a figurehead in the Oval Office. However, if you'd
like a bit more cognitive and a bit less deficit,
then John Kerry is probably your choice.
Second, get this story out. Make the media do its job.
If the story is false, it should be challenged and eliminated.
Given the gravity of this topic, it seems to us that any and all
challenges are fair and reasonable. And, if some aspect of it is true
(clearly, there is something going on here), we are entitled to know that. Getting to the bottom of the story is the media's responsibility.
There is a story here. That's the media's job.
In our view, we could use a little less of pundits screaming at
each other while spinning the same talking points over and over
and maybe we could spend a few media minutes on the
health of our Commander in Chief. But hey, that's just us.

What if you're wrong?
We would be delighted. Embarrassed, but delighted.
We'll probably still vote for Kerry,
but if this whole thing was proven false, we'd all sleep better.
But you look at those darn tapes from ten years ago - and you just feel
that something serious is going on here.

Are you a real organization?
Barely. It's just a few of us taking time off from running a small
textbook company (along with various friends) to do what
seems to be our civic duty.
But we're not placing media, we're not raising funds,
and we're not hiding who we are.
This will be over soon. We hope.
